NORTH CRAWFORD - The North Crawford girls track team defended their Ridge and Valley Conference title for the fourth year in a row on Tuesday, May 14 at Viroqua.
The Trojans scored 144 points to win the championship. Scores for the rest of the teams were Ithaca-Weston 128, Kickapoo-LaFarge 126.50, Wauzeka-Steuben 69.50, DeSoto 58 and Seneca 22.

Several athletes had great performances on Tuesday starting with senior jumper Briana Mack. She began by taking second place in the 100-meter dash in a time of 13.41. She went on to win the long jump with a leap of 15’10” and the triple jump with 31’01.50.” Mack also placed fourth in the pole vault with a jump of 7’6”.


North Crawford distance runner Helen Carstens won the 3200-meter run in a time of 12:22.82. She also placed second in the 1600-meter run in a time of 5:36.89. Teammate Martha Bransky placed third in the 3200-meter run in a time of 13:44.97. She also placed fifth in the 1600-meter run with a time of 6:01.23.


Additionally, Carstens placed second in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:30.93.
Also performing well was sophomore Kloee Chamberlain, who won the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in a time 51.22 and was third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:05.79. Chamberlain also finished in fifth place in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 18.70.
Junior Rachael Peterson had a good day as well–placing second in the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:04.32 and second in the high jump with a height of 4’8”.
Peterson was also a member of the winning 4x400-meter relay with teammates Faye Brassington, Nyah Forkash and Fanny Ladstaetter in a season best time of 4:44.12.

“I was so proud of the girls tonight,” Trojan track coach Mike Allbaugh said after the meet. “They all came together and put on a true team performance. We could not have won the meet without everyone putting in the effort and supporting each other.”
