Trojans perform well at River Ridge Invite

The North Crawford track teams competed in the River Ridge Invitational on Friday April 26. The girls team had a good showing, finishing as the meet runners-up with 117 points. The boys also did well by finishing in fifth place with 30 points.

 Having solid showings for the Trojans were:

Briana Mack who won the 100-meter dash in a time of 14.20. She followed that up by winning the long jump with a leap of 14’7.5”. She then went on the place third in the triple jump with 29’5.5” and was 10thin the 200-meter dash with a time of 31.46.

Also performing well was distance runner Helen Carstens who won the 1600-m eter run in a time of 5:57.08. She then went on to challenge the meet record in the 3200-meter run, but fell just short. She still won the event by more than one minute ahead of the second place finisher in a time of 12:14.61.

“The girls had great performances tonight,” Trojan track coach Mike Allbaugh said. “This track is very hard to run on and it was extra windy causing times to be slightly less than normal, but the places show how hard they worked. The end of the season is nearing and we are figuring out who belongs in what events to make us the strongest team that we can be at the end of the season.”
